FIRE DEPARTMENT.
The Engine and Hook and Ladder Companies, attached to the Fire Department of the Village of Lansingburgh, are notified to attend with their apparatus, for exercise and review, on the Square, in front of the vacant First Presbyterian Church, on Thursday afternoon, the 18th inst. The roll of the Department will be called precisely at 1 1-2 o'clock P.M.T.C. DAVENPORT, Chief Engineer.A. WALSH, Jr., Secretary.Lansingburgh Democrat. October 31, 1853: 2 col 6.—The last regular meeting of the Board of Fire Commissioners prior to the annexation of Lansingburgh to Troy will beheld Thursday evening. It is probable that a special meeting will be held before January 1 to close up the affairs of the department."Lansingburgh." Troy Daily Times. December 4, 1900: 4 col 2.
Additional Fire Protection.
Looking forward to the necessity for additional fire protection that will come when Lansingburgh becomes a part of Greater Troy, several volunteer hose companies have sprung up asking for recognition. The old Mason Hose Company has been reorganized into a volunteer company, and will probably be stationed in the centre of the present village. About forty residents of the Fourth Ward have signed a roll of membership, and a meeting has been called for to-morrow evening at the Troy Yacht Club house, when an organization will be effected and officers will be elected. With the organization of this company comes the suggestion to purchase the Troy Yacht Club house and transform it into a hose company house. A petition has also been signed by a number of residents of the Third Ward for a hose company, to be located uptown. These companies will probably ask for recognition by the Village Trustees and Board of Fire Commissioners before January 1."Lansingburgh." Troy Daily Times. December 6, 1900: 4 col 2.

The Firemen Preparing For the Annual Parade [...]
—Preparing For the Parade.
Employees of the Fire Department at Firemen's Hall are busily engaged in preparing for the annual parade and inspection of the Troy fire companies, when the old Lansingburgh fire fighters will make their fire appearance as Troy firemen. Yesterday the letter L was replaced by T in the "L. F. D." on the Fake truck and the letters on the Mason hose wagon will be changed to-day. On the side of the wagon "Hose No. 10" will be painted. The Upper Troy firemen intend to make a reputation for themselves in the parade next week.Troy Daily Times. September 25, 1901: 4 col 2.The four volunteer fire companies of Lansingburgh, N. Y., namely, the J. J. Child Engine Co., the T. H. Mason Hose Co., the J. S. Fake Hook and Ladder Co, and the F. B. Twining Engine Co., will be disbanded immediately after the annual inspection of the department, which will probably take place on the first Thursday in October. The city authorities have had the matter under consideration for some time, and the preliminary step in carrying out the project is the ordinance presented at the last meeting of the Common Council, which calls for the addition of ten men to the fire department. The disbandment of the Lansingburgh companies is desired by the authorities for several reasons, two of which are economy and efficiency. The city is paying big rent for quarters for the Fake Hooks and the maintenance charge for quarters in the other houses is expensive. Nowadays a bell alarm is sounded in Lansingburgh for the smallest kind of a fire in order to summon the volunteers to the scene. With the presence of more paid men in the fire houses a telephone call to any one house would be sufficient. It is the intention of the city to install a pumper at the [One Hundred] Fifteenth street headquarters next year and the replacement of the horses on Truck 1 with a motor tractor is also contemplated. This will give the authorities the desired opportunity to abandon the Twining Steamer House, which, with a pumper at [One Hundred] Fifteenth street, will not be required. There is another reason why the authorities are seeking additional men for the department at this time. The legislative bill providing for a two-platoon system for firemen, which failed of enactment at the last session, is to be introduced again next January and there is every indication that this time it will become a law.Fire Service.
